Edit VMX file from Vsphere
The VMX file is the primary configuration file for the virtual machine. When you create a new VM and answer the various questions about the operating system, memory, hard drive size and networking, those answers are stored in this file. This is the VMX, its just basically a text document that informs the system of whats going on, it can be edited in notepad\wordpad.
Open vSphere
Click on Home at the top of the page and select Datastore

You will need to find the Virtual Server you wish to edit
I will select DataStore1 and click Browse this datastore

A new box will appear
Highlight the VM server, and you will see the various VM files relating to this virtual server
We want the .vmx file, so Highlight the .vmx file and right click and download
Save it somewhere you can get to it eg your desktop

Once you are finished editing the file you can upload the file by going back to the datastore
and selecting upload.
Make sure you put the file back in the exact same place you got it from to make sure the changes get applied.
